A Center I Forgot

When I feel no earth below me

And no God up there to hold me

I know the dark and lonely

Is slowly taking hold

The pictures falling off the wall

They fell and broke some time ago

Shattered things and splintered dreams

Sprawl naked on the floor

Twisted tears fall harder now

The years will take their toll

But gather them in tender hands

They're worth their weight in gold

Pain and peace are wings to me

Two wings that tie a knot

The center holds them gracefully

A center I forgot

Whirl and spin the time away

If your heart says to live that way

Or sit so still eyes open wide

And take the time that's passing by

Pain and peace are wings to me

Two wings that tie a knot

The center holds them gracefully

A center I forgot

Falling fast they fade away

All the parts that shouldn't stay

To let them go is peace and pain

Held forever in refrain

Pain and peace are wings to me

Two wings that tie a knot

The center holds them gracefully

A center I forgot
