"I worked on Unicorn Alley"
She smiled and lit
A 10-foot cigarette
In my dreams
We were in a dimly lit
Basement
With a handful of strangers
Watching sea waves
Rolling in
The art on the walls
I couldn’t see straight
But I could feel it
Deep in my knees
The guard screamed
"Come and save me"
Grabbing paddles
For a boat that
Ran on steam
The waves broke
Hardest
In the morning
So we couldn’t
Climb aboard
We had to wait until
The evening
When the captain
Felt assured
Shining all our lanterns
Straight into the night
The woke and wondrous
People
Were the only ones in sight
