Sunrise Love Song (11/13/18)

I saw my love in sunrise field

Beneath the budding bhodi tree

My eyes were closed

Just like a babe

But seeds were planted

In his name

I began the journey at high noon

The burning sun of summer swooned

Just a bandit lost for love

Without a well or turtle dove

And so I crossed the boiling sand

Helpless hope my map in hand

I had to do it on my own

Cross the desert in my bones

The desert’s toes

They touched the sea

A boat with sails awaited me

The summer breeze reminded me

Of water lilies floating free

I watched the wind

And gripped the rails

A mermaid’s spin

On setting sail

I dodged the sharks

And came to see

An island floating

Out at sea

No fisher folk stood on the shore

Like the land I knew before

Just a cypress grove that breathed

The scent of jasmine in its leaves

The wind it blew and whistled clear

His name a whisper in my ear

The night began I couldn’t see

But knew that deer surrounded me

I made it through the thick dark wood

By following the moon above

And listening for wild bees

That lived beyond the shadow trees

The threshold crossed and up ahead

I saw a mountain stained blood red

While watching it white flowers bloomed

A Snow White blanket from a loom

Midnight bells rang in my ears

I climbed the slope and wept my tears

I dressed my hair in flowers white

Prepared myself to wed that night

I saw him just before the peak

So moonstruck that I couldn’t speak

But I kept walking toward the dawn

And took his hands inside my own

A waterfall rushed deep inside

Knowing I would be his bride

Looking in his sky blue eyes

We merged into the crystal light
